Anonymous asked: In your opinion, why do you think that eating meat is wrong?
i don’t think eating meat is inherently wrong
i have a lot of problems with the environmental costs of the way that we produce meat, and ethical qualms about the ways that we currently keep and slaughter animals. i don’t there is anything wrong with eating meat in and of itself, though.
i also have ideological issues with the idea that we don’t hold decisions about foods to the same standard that we hold decisions about our other senses and urges. as humans, we are allowed/encouraged to satisfy our every urge when it comes to eating (“i want a steak/twinkie/strawberry right now, let me eat that right now without thinking of the implications”). this would never be okay when it came to touch or sex or bodily excretions. i think that people don’t think much about what their actions mean with respect to food like they necessarily would with other urges and impluses. i like to be deliberate in as many actions as i can be.
